The following is a list of new or expanded services available to cardholding residents of Springfield through our membership in the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium.
1. Direct access to the holdings of all 31 consortium members, including the ability to place direct hold requests on items owned by other libraries.
2. Streaming access to more than 500,000 items (audiobooks, movies, music, e-books, comics and television shows) through access to a library service called Hoopla. Go to the main page of our catalog for more information regarding how you can sign up.
3. Expanded access through Zinio to subscriptions of nearly 150 popular magazine titles that will get emailed right to your inbox.
4. LMxPRess, a free mobile app for your handheld devices.
5. Pay for fines and fees online with your credit card through online access to SmartPay.

CANCELED - Canasta Class

This repeat is an exception to the normal repeat pattern

People interested in learning how to play canasta are invited to sign up for a beginner class that will be offered beginning June and continuing through the end of August. Taught by a volunteer instructor, classes will be held at the library on Monday evenings from 6:30 -8:00 PM. Please note that the class will not be held on July 3 and July 10.

This series of classes will be held only if there is sufficient interest from members of the public. Canasta was developed in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1939 and became extremely popular in some parts of South America before being introduced to the United States in 1948. It is played with two decks of cards and is the only member of the rummy family of card games that is played with a partner.
