The Springfield Free Public Library is pleased to host retired school principal and guidance counselor Mark Walters for an hour long presentation of his anti-bullying program, “Imagine the Possibilities” at 7:00 PM on Monday, January 14.
The time-proven strategies offered will give parents and teens ways to deal with the types of bullying situations that are typically seen in most communities. Topics to be covered will include how to recognize if your child is being the target of bullying behaviors, ways to be aware of whether or not your child is engaging in bullying behaviors, techniques your child can use to “handle” a bully, and an understanding of how bullying has reached beyond the schoolyard with the power to intrude on all aspects of society, including the workplace. This program will include audience participation, Q & A, role play and a “hands on” activity referred to as “mirror image reflection.”
In addition to his career as an educator and educational administrator, Walters has also worked as a radio announcer and taught “Effective Speaking” classes at Ramapo College. Beyond New York and New Jersey, Walters has given his anti-bullying presentation in Milwaukee, Colorado Springs, Boston and Minneapolis.
