“Chaucer Reimagined: Illustrations by Members of the Book Arts Roundtable” will be on display in the Donald B. Palmer Museum of the Springfield Free Public Library April 1-30.
The pieces in the exhibit are part of a seventeen-member collaboration that depicts contemporary versions of pilgrims included in Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. Each piece is created on Rives BFK paper in a variety of different media, including drawing, printmaking, gel transfer, and college. In addition to the “portrait,” each work includes a brief text that explains the character referenced.
Founded in 2000, The Book Arts Roundtable is based at the Baird Community Center in South Orange. Members participate in at least one themed collaborative project per year. The group welcomes new members who are interested in exploring the art and craft of handmade books. More information about the group is available at http://www.bookartsroundtable.com
