Girls Who Code
Monday, March 06, 2023, 07:00pm
The Springfield Free Public Library will host a weekly Girls Who Code Club in the Youth Services Department, to be facilitated by Children’s Librarian Brianne Mintz. The club will teach participants how to code using Scratch, an online coding community, and the official Girls Who Code manual. This session is open to participants in grades 3-5; participants are required to commit to each weekly session.

Girls Who Code provides girls with safe, girls-focused spaces, and centering curricula on women in tech so that girls can imagine themselves in computing roles. Any member–regardless of gender identity–who wishes to support our mission is encouraged to sign up for our program.

Founded in 2012 by Reshma Saujani, Girls Who Code now reaches more than 50,000 girls in computer science education programs, with over 1500 clubs across America.  Girls who Code has also launched a 13 book series with Penguin Random House, including fiction and nonfiction.

For more information, please call Brianne Mintz at (973) 376 4930, ext. 232, or visit our website at sfplnj.org.
